For RVers, protecting your Splendide ® washer-dryer during winter months is essential to avoid freezing and damage. This guide will walk you through how to properly winterize your unit when it’s not in use.
Step 1: Power Off the Washer-Dryer
Turn off the unit and unplug it from the power source. If your washer-dryer is hardwired, you can turn off the breaker to cut the power.
Step 2: Drain the Water
Drain all the water from your washer-dryer. Run a spin cycle to ensure all excess water has been expelled from the drum and the internal components.
Step 3: Add RV Antifreeze
Pour about one quart of non-toxic RV antifreeze into the drum. Start a short spin cycle to allow the antifreeze to circulate through the internal hoses and pump.
Step 4: Flush the Water Lines
Disconnect the hot and cold water supply lines and drain any remaining water from them. Reattach the lines once they’re empty.
Step 5: Disconnect Power and Secure
Once the washer-dryer is winterized, it’s a good idea to unplug it and secure the unit for the winter months. Store any loose components like hoses or electrical cords safely.
Final Tips:
- Don’t skip the antifreeze: It protects your washer-dryer’s internal components from freezing temperatures, which could otherwise cause expensive damage.
- Label the unit: When winterizing for RV use, place a visible label on the washer-dryer indicating that it has antifreeze in it, so you’ll remember to flush it before next use.
Winterizing your Splendide® washer-dryer ensures it stays in good working order even after months of non-use
