Why Your Splendide® Washer Won’t Drain

Why Your Splendide® Washer Won’t Drain

Many RV owners rely on **Splendide washer-dryer combos for convenient laundry while traveling. One of the most common issues these machines develop is a washer that completes the cycle but leaves water sitting in the drum.

When a Splendide® washer won’t drain, the problem usually involves a blockage, a failing component, or a restriction in the drainage system.

Understanding the most common causes can help you quickly diagnose the issue and determine the correct repair.

1. Clogged Pump Filter

Many drainage problems occur when the pump filter becomes clogged with lint, debris, or small objects left in clothing pockets.

Common symptoms include:

  • Water remaining in the drum
  • Slow draining
  • The washer stopping before the spin cycle

Cleaning the filter can often restore proper operation.

2. Blocked Drain Hose

A kinked or obstructed drain hose can prevent water from leaving the washer.

Possible causes include:

  • Buildup of lint or detergent residue
  • A hose pinched behind the machine
  • Improper installation

Inspecting the hose for restrictions is an important troubleshooting step.

3. Faulty Drain Pump

The drain pump is responsible for removing water from the drum at the end of the wash cycle. If the pump becomes damaged or worn out, it may fail to remove water completely.

Signs of a failing pump include:

  • Loud grinding or buzzing noises
  • Water remaining in the washer
  • Drain cycles that never complete

Replacing the drain pump is often the solution when the pump motor fails.

4. Electrical or Control Issues

In some cases, a drainage failure may be related to the washer’s control system or wiring connections.

Electrical issues can prevent the pump from receiving power during the drain cycle.

Troubleshooting Steps

If your Splendide® washer is not draining, try the following steps:

  1. Check and clean the pump filter
  2. Inspect the drain hose for kinks or blockages
  3. Listen for pump operation during the drain cycle
  4. Inspect the pump for visible damage

If these steps do not resolve the issue, replacing the drain pump may be necessary.
