Can't Open Splendide Door (2000S Model )
If you can’t open the door on your Splendide® 2000 (likely model WD2000S or WD2000XC), it’s usually due to a safety lock mechanism that keeps the door sealed during and shortly after cycles. Here’s how to troubleshoot it safely
👇🔒 1. Door Lock Timing — Wait a Few Minutes
After a wash or dry cycle, the door remains locked for 1–3 minutes while the drum stops spinning and the internal temperature/pressure stabilizes.
-
Wait at least 2–3 minutes after the end of the cycle.
-
You should hear a click when the lock releases.
If it doesn’t click after that, continue below.
⚡ 2. Power/Control Lock Issues
If the machine lost power mid-cycle (breaker tripped, unplugged, etc.), the door may stay locked because the control board never got the “cycle complete” signal.
Try this:
-
Unplug the washer-dryer.
-
Wait at least 2 minutes (this resets the control board).
-
Plug it back in and turn the selector to OFF.
-
Then, set the dial to a short spin or drain cycle and press start — this can trigger the lock to release when it finishes.
💧 3. Water Still Inside the Drum
If water is still in the drum, the door will not open as a safety precaution.
Do this:
-
Set the dial to a “Drain” or “Spin” cycle to empty the drum.
-
If the machine won’t run, you can manually drain it:
-
Turn off power and water.
-
Locate the drain pump filter behind the lower front access panel.
-
Slowly open the filter cap to let water drain into a shallow pan or towel.
-
Once fully drained, try opening the door again.
-
⚙️ 4. Mechanical Door Lock Failure
If none of the above works, the door interlock switch (door lock mechanism) may have failed or jammed.
Common signs:
-
You hear no clicking sound when locking/unlocking.
-
The cycle won’t start because the machine “thinks” the door isn’t closed.
-
Door feels firmly sealed even when power is off.
In that case, you’ll likely need to replace the door lock assembly — Splendide part number 134101800 (used on many 2000-series units, but confirm by model tag).
🧰 5. Emergency Door Release
If you absolutely need to get the door open:
-
Unplug the unit.
-
Remove the top panel (usually a few screws on the back).
-
Look down toward the door latch area — there’s often a small manual release lever or tab on the lock housing.
-
Pull it gently to release the door.
(Only do this if you’re comfortable accessing the internals safely.)
