If your Splendide washer-dryer has inconsistent water flow or temperature issues, it’s often a sign of a problem with the water valves. These valves control the flow of hot and cold water into the machine. Fortunately, diagnosing and fixing water valve issues is something you can do yourself.
Tools Needed:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Pliers
Step 1: Power Off the Washer-Dryer
Unplug the washer-dryer or turn off the circuit breaker to avoid any electrical hazards while working on the appliance.
Step 2: Remove the Top Panel
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws securing the top panel of the washer-dryer. Slide the top panel off to expose the water valves.
Step 3: Remove the Detergent Dispenser
To access the water valves, you’ll need to remove the detergent dispenser (follow the steps from the previous blog post if needed). Once the dispenser is out, the water valves will be visible at the back of the machine.
Step 4: Inspect the Water Valves
Check the water valves for any signs of damage or leaks. If the valve seals are worn out, this can lead to leaking or improper water flow. Before removing the valves, take note of the wiring connections. It’s crucial to reattach them in the correct order to avoid temperature issues during wash cycles.
Step 5: Remove and Replace the Water Valves
Using pliers, carefully disconnect the hoses and wiring from the water valves. Remove the screws securing the valves to the back of the machine. Replace the faulty valves with new ones, ensuring the seals are correctly installed.
Step 6: Reassemble and Test
Reattach the detergent dispenser and top panel, then plug the machine back in. Run a test cycle to ensure water is flowing correctly and the temperature is regulated.
Final Tips:
- Check for leaks: After reassembly, inspect for any water leaks to confirm the valves are securely installed.
- Mark wiring locations: Incorrect wiring on the valves may lead to temperature problems, so label the wiring or take a photo before disassembly.
